I have always trusted Dr. Weil because he does not hesitate to tell you when something does not work, even if it does involve nutrition or integrative medicine and he always supplies studies to back up his opinion. This book is no different in those respects. While the book is lengthy and written in what is often medical text, there is always a gray highlighted box or area of the chapter which will clarify what the layman may not understand. Dr. Weil also agrees that traditional medicine is often the first line of defense, especially in the case of cancer, and that integrative medicine is a valuable support to that for the patient. Lung, colorectal, prostate, and breast cancer are covered in their own chapters and the remainder of the book is entirely comprehensive...massage therapy, art and music, mistletoe, supplements....it is all here. I do wish that there could be an even more updated version of the book which could address newer questions in cancer treatment, but what is here is certainly reliable.
